Vedi Vici. Rocky came . Rocky saw. Praise The Lord.
"Testing" the latest to come out of the A$AP is a fascinating piece of work by an artist whom I believe has suffered a lack of shine in hip-hop due to the current wave in hip-hop music. I believe that Rocky realized this too, which is why the MC wen't outside of hip-hop (just as he went outside of the country the minute he blew up) to gain inspiration for his latest movement, which is why "Testing" runs so well.
The features are sparse, set only to a couple of bars for the artists or ad-libs best delivered by the likes of Puffy on "Tony Tone" and BlocBoy JB (sounding mistakeably like 2 Chainz) on "OG Beeper". Sadly artists like French Montana , Snoop Dogg, and T.I. suffer from the minimalist structure of the record . Luckily, records like "Gunz N Butter" (the 666 Mafia / DJ Screw homage record , featuring the illest Project Pat samples rode by Juicy J's ad-libs) ,"Buck Shots", and "Hun43rd" get more track time because of this.
"Testing" wasn't an even record. The road was bumpy. "CALLDROPS" could have been cut because , Kodak Black is not exactly the poster child of change, so he appeared out of place on an album based off of the art of experimentation. Just as well, I would have loved to hear "Kids Turned Out Fine" completely screwed, and I am aware I am biased as the "Choked & Strangled" originator, but, I am entitled to my opinion. That was definetly where Rocky was with this jazzy-house-rap-experimental-klusterfuk-fest. By the way, what's up with the homage to "Straight Outta Compton" on the cover?
this is sgt. pepper of rap right now. mark 08 03 18 - lil awge
This really needs a vinyl release. This is such an underrated release. I hope people will appreciate it's experimental creativity.
why does this not have a vinyl release? & PLEASE not some high fashion vinyl that sells for a K, or is only for sale arbitrarily for a single day.
This needs a vinyl release.. (umm 4 more words lol)
