ABBA Live at Wembley will be reissued on vinyl on 13 March 2020 via UMC/Polydor - half-speed mastered (by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios) so this should sound better. It comes with a download code.
i am looking forward !!! Nice to know that a much better edition will be available soon !!!
if this sounds so bad why do sellers expect anyone to pay these over-inflated prices anyone who pays £100+ for this vinyl is just plain stupid or a millionaire
Collectors are usually strange people...i still don't get it...many buyers will never listen to that record.
Horribly mastered on the vinyl. The hi hat is all over the place. Unlistenable. Go for the CD version.
Wonderful cover but horrible sound. No dynamics and whispering sound of the Hi-Hats. Universal can't make records. To sell something is insolence.
It's a f*cked up GZ Vinyl mastering....with simply no quality control. Such a shame !!!
Is there anyone who actually has a listenable copy of this 3LP vinyl set? Shouldn't Polar / Universal provide replacements for everyone? Any word on this? The cover and sleeve with all the pics are fine but the pressing is totally screwed up.
Mailed Polar/Universal + some other places about the hi-hat situation just after I purchased this 3LP in 2015 (?). No answer whatsoever. F.O.
This cutting is the worst-sounding ABBA vinyl release I've ever heard...it was pressed by czech factory GZ and I suspect that they also did the cutting. It has horrible distortion noises on the hihats - unlistenable !!! I will sell my copy and listen to the CD version instead. I have no use for a vinyl release that will never be played again.
I think like you. This cutting is the worst-sounding ABBA vinyl release I've ever heard. I don't know if CD has bad sound too. I don't know if buy CD or not.
I've heard that this pressing should sound rather bad. I don't see any information on mastering - I'm beginning to fear that there was no proper vinyl-master for this. Does anybody have any further information? :)
Basically a dubplate vinyl of this release would sound better? When it's cut in real time, i know it would cost much more than the official vinyl.
Hi,i can only confirm it: the pressing is terrible. The available mp3 download sounds way better !! :(
I think a second pressing to rectify the problem would be great, it's funny that the 1986 ABBA Live album i have is made in Poland and has great sound but that this one nearly 20 years later has worse sound, but they probably used the masters for the 1986 Live album, also, in my local music store they don't seem to know anything about this release, they don't have the 2 different CD editions or the Vinyl, but they had all the new ABBA releases from this year the week they came out, i live in Ireland, was it limited to just mainland europe, Germany, France etc?
The record was pressed in Poland, that says everything...! There was no master used and there'll be no 2nd edition...!Greetz from "ABBA Intermezzo" Fan Club Member.
You're absolutely right! I had been looking forward to this one for a long time too- I tried two different pick ups, but it was the same with both :(It sounded OK of I rolled off more or less all the treble on my amplifier and listened through head phones. But this is really disappointing, as it is ABBA, and ABBA always sound amazing. ...well to be fair: the rest does sound great but the treble is absolutely horrendous! But still I had to have it and it does look good in the collection :)Let's just hope the DVD sounds better!!
That sucks, i've been seeing a lot of reviews on the vinyl edition being bad, i don't understand why there was no proper mastering of it, i mean it's ABBA, everything should have been double checked before mass production, that's one thing i cannot understand, i won't buy it, i've been looking forward to this since May, but i will pass, i'm not spending 40E on something that's not gonna sound good, at least i have the ABBA Live album on vinyl from 1986 and i don't care about the studio over dubs, what we really deserve is Live In Wembley the DVD, am i right? the same with the Australian Tour.
Ok - had to have it anyway, and I must admit, it's absolutely beautiful but it does sound horrible; or rather the hi-hats are awful! The rest is fine... if you can hear over the massively hissing hi-hats :(My guess is that there was no proper vinyl master made for this one.
