Video

John Tejada’s THE PREDICTING MACHINE starts off more energetic than his previous, with the spacy warfare of “Orbiter,” while the wavering tones of “A Familiar Mood” nods towards Detroit. “An Ounce of Perception” keeps its rhythm slightly more off-balance, a syncopation that passes into “Winter Skies.” An ambient hum comes over “Radio Channel” before “The Function and the Form” comes to put some kick drums to the reverbing tones. “Stabilizer” holds things down with a four-to-the-floor and a wobble bass and a harmony that nearly approaches pop, while “Glaringly Happy” percolates with child-like joy, a peppiness that a calm vibe that extends into the closer, “When All Around is Madness.”
