The Deerstalker Dub was a total secret weapon for me for at least 2 years (94-96). I wish I could say that I was channeling John Digweed, but it really just came into my collection from an excellent record store (Culture 7) and rocked my crowds every time. I thankfully still have a copy in my stacks, but you can easily find it on beatport these days. It's the stuff.
The Deerstalker Dub by Mr. Roy was a big John Digweed tune, he used it on his first essential mix in 1994 and was used by Jay Chappell on https://www.discogs.com/Jay-Chappell-Music-Unites-Presents-The-Ultimate-House-Party-Mix/master/142654 which was also a groundbreaking mix. It's just got such a crossover appeal and it's so happy and uplifting but a really genuine, non cheesey way. I still play it now.
All 3 tracks on this record are excellent and worth having. Good examples of hooky British House from the mid 1990's. Most probably influenced by the earlier Italian piano house type stuff. The 3 tracks contained in this release are prime examples of when House Music was being made still with plenty of hooks in the tracks, better in my opinion, than much of the less hooky and more predictable stuff coming out currently.
Totally disagree, some of what you mention is indeed throwaway handbag but not Mr Roy. The Red Stripe Mix is timeless. And Dreamer is still pretty damn good too.
